EcoStation Partner's Potential Carbon Savings
A survey of EcoStation's foundation partners in September 2010 highlighted the enormous potential for carbon savings to be made.
The survey of twelve partners showed that their total logistics spend was over $7.5 billion dollars, with more than $1.4 billion going into road freight annually.
A diesel fuel spend of around $480 million dollars accross these EcoStation participants equates to a yearly diesel consumption of 370 million litres, and carbon emissions of over one million tonnes.
With only a five percent reduction in fuel use through the EcoStation program, a saving that can be achieved easily in the first year of participation, our partners stand to save twenty four million dollars! In addition to this nearly fifty- two thousand tonnes of carbon dioxide will be saved from entering the atmosphere.
As EcoStation runs as a program that saves our companies money at the same time as reducing emission, this must be the best value carbon savings around.
| Total fuel spend of EcoStation foundation partners | $480,000,000 |
| Assuming a 5% fuel saving - total saving is | $24,000,000 |
| Assuming diesel is $1.30 per litre, then total litres saved (millions) is | 18.4 Million litres |
| Total Carbon savings with a 5% reduction | 51,656 tonnes CO2 |
